Experience
I went to the University of Mexico for my masters degree in history as well as my doctorate in history. I went to the University of San Francisco to earn my bachelor's degree in history before that. As a graduate student, I tutored high school students through the University. When I finished my masters degree, I taught English language learning in Spain, which was a great experience. I was able to work with students from three years old through adults, assisting with school work and international business projects. I developed a lot of great teaching strategies by working with students of all different types, abilities, and learning styles. While I was pursuing my doctorate, I worked for three years as a teaching assistant to graduate courses and also taught Western civilization on campus. When I teach a subject, I like students to understand why it is important and how it is used in the real world in addition to providing information about course material. I want students to exercise their critical thinking skills and apply their knowledge as opposed to memorizing information. I'm also skilled at helping students put together solid arguments and organize essays. I can tutor a number of different subjects, but my favorites are writing and history. In my free time, I enjoy writing and traveling.
