Experience
I am an undergraduate student who attended the University of Oklahoma where I studied Biology, Spanish, and Latin American studies. I was also a music performance major, where I played the French horn and the piano. I have an interest in many different subjects and am excited to be able to tutor students in those different subjects. I have tutored students to help them prepare for their standardized tests. I also previously tutored children in middle and high school in a variety of subjects, including music performance and theory, math, college preparation, study skills, writing/editing, science, and ESL. Although I enjoy tutoring children in a variety of subjects, I really enjoy Spanish, writing, and Biology more than the rest. I find Biology really fascinating. I also enjoy it when my students ask important Biology questions, and I love it when they start to make connections with the things they learn. While I am tutoring students in Spanish and writing, I really enjoy helping them learn new ways to communicate with others. I earned a Master of Public Health degree at the University of California, Berkeley School of Public Health in 2013. Currently, I work as an environmental health fellow for the government, where I work on children's environmental health problems. Previously, I spent one year creating and conducting science and health career and education mentoring programs for years K-12 students at the AmeriCorps Community HealthCorps of Northern California. Although I used to train in the French horn and the piano for my major, I have transitioned to playing music in a more relaxed setting with my community orchestra.
