ExperienceI am a tutor with extensive experience studying and teaching History and Literature. I am in the process of applying to Ph.D. programs in Psychology. I am comfortable tutoring students in a variety of subjects relating to History and Literature, including Critical Reading, American Literature, Shakespeare, Writing, American History, European History, World History, Art History, Government and Politics, Geography, and Human Geography. I am also capable of teaching Psychology and helping students prepare for exams. My philosophy as a tutor is based on a dichotomy between types of students. The first type of student views intelligence as a fixed trait. This type of student believes that intelligence is something you're either born with or without. Thus, if he or she fails at anything, it is because they believe they lack the intelligence to do better. This worldview has a negative impact on learning because it causes students to not attempt anything they may fail at. In contrast, the second type of student believes that intelligence is something that is gained over time. These students tend to be more successful because they make an effort to learn new things. In my free time, I enjoy watching soccer, attending concerts, working out, watching documentaries, listening to lectures, and roasting my own coffee beans.
