Adept at finding problem areas in student's understanding, and helping to fill in those gaps. University Chemistry Professor for 20 years, 10 of those years as a full professor. Dept. Chair for 5 years. Taught all of the courses in the undergraduate and graduate program at least once except for the Physical Chemistry sequence. Frequently taught General, Organic, Analytical and Biochemistry courses, and often offered study sessions and exam reviews, in addition office hours. Have spent much time with under-prepared students, but also led graduate research. Enjoy the one-on-one time with students. Was humbled to learn a group of students called me Yoda.

Hobbies

Parenting (not exactly a hobby), hiking, Pilates, guitar (yearning for time to play), armchair-economics, the NY Times (actually it's more of a time thief, but like any addict...), John Oliver and similar comedy that causes simultaneous laughter and retching. Pursuit of truth and joy holds things together, but it is a leaky net. After 20 years as a workaholic at the university, I decided to cut the cord when my daughter was born. Now I can enjoy her childhood. I miss the teaching and research, but not the university politics.
